Expat SIMs

It is strange that overseas Pakistanis have been left out of the SIM verification process. The Pakistani government has announced no mechanism whereby the millions of Pakistanis living abroad can get their SIMs verified.
I am currently working in Saudi Arabia and using a SIM that is in my name. When I called the relevant mobile company for this SIM to be verified, I was told that there was no mechanism for verification for overseas Pakistanis. This is a major issue that requires the immediate attention of the PTA. One suggestion is that when any overseas Pakistani who calls a mobile service provider call centre or the PTA’s designated number from his Pakistani SIM and verifies his CNIC number, his status should be considered as ‘verified’. It is hoped that the PTA will take a positive action over the issue.
