Rafi Alam Polo Cup final today
LAHORE: Jubilee Insurance/Master Paints will take on Barry’s in the main final of the Lt Gen Shah Rafi Alam Memorial Polo Cup 2018 on Sunday here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground.
As many as top nine teams took part in this eight-goal tournament, which was associated with former polo player Lt Gen Shah Rafi Alam. All the teams displayed quality polo and fought well against each other, but Jubilee Insurance/Master Paints and Barry’s turned out to be finalists after defeating their respective opponents. Jubilee Insurance team consists of Aun Rizvi, Sufi Farooq, Edward Bannireve and Hamza Mawaz Khan while Barry’s team includes Jamil Barry, Raja Mikael Sami, Raja Samiullah and Hernan Pieres. The subsidiary final will be contested between Army and Outfitters. Army team has the services of Maj Adil Rao, Maj Faizan Tassaduk Bhutta, Maj Omer Minhas and Luis Mighal Duggan while Outfitters team comprises Alman Jalil Azam, Adnan Jalil Azam, Shah Shamyl Alam and Ahmed Ali Tiwana.
Lahore Polo Club executive committee member Umer Sadik has said that very high standard polo has been played during this season, as each and every team and player has been performing exceptionally and making this polo season more challenging and enthralling. “I hope this Sunday’s final will be very entertaining and both the finalists will give out their best to win the coveted trophy.”
