FAISALABAD: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Monday said PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Sheikh Rashid were in a state of panic, referring the two as "Pagal Khan" and "Pindi ka Shaitan” [devil of Rawalpindi] respectively.
He said Imran and Sheikh Rashid had been dejected due to popularity of the PML-N among the public and they might carry out a suicide attack on the political system out of sheer dejection. The Supreme Court should impose a ban on the entry of Sheikh Rashid in its premises as his remarks were defaming the courts, he remarked.
Speaking to media, Rana Sana said those who got Nawaz disqualified were embarrassed as the nation is supporting the former prime minister. "The whole world considers qualified the person whose disqualification was attempted," he said, referring to Nawaz. The PML-N leader said Nawaz believes in working according to merit and with transparency, and he had not hidden anything about himself.
About the Model Town inquiry report, Rana Sana said the document did not contain anything despite the claims that it had many “secrets”. He said all the nominated persons ensured their presence before the JIT and some of them had been exonerated, while those declared guilty were facing trial in court.
“The objective behind sit-ins and lockdowns is to destabilise the country politically as well as economically,” the minister said.
Referring to reports that Nawaz and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif are in Saudi Arabia to strike a deal, the provincial minister said they were holding discussion on issues confronting the Muslim world during their visit. He added that the treason case verdict against former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf should be announced soon. Rana Sana predicted a clean sweep by the PML-N in next general elections only because of prudent policies of Nawaz who enjoyed support of the people and the PML-N workers. To a question, he said the increase in petroleum prices was an outcome of higher rates in the international markets. "We will decrease prices as soon as the rates come down in the international market," he added.
