KARACHI: Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has said that poverty and unemployment are the main causes of terrorism.
Without eliminating them, he said, it is not possible to bring durable peace and economic prosperity to Pakistan. The governor expressed these views in his address at a ceremony organised by the Careem transportation network.
The Sindh governor said: “We are working to lay the foundation of bright and prosperous future for the people by providing them with maximum employment opportunities, which, in turn, will ensure that the demands of human values, societal justice and equality are met.” Lauding the JS Bank-Careem scheme to provide cars to the unemployed, Mohammad Zubair said the provision of such opportunities is a positive sign for the country. “By investing Rs1 billion in this scheme, the automobile industry is also being benefited,” he said, adding the country's success depended on the business community, traders, investors and the skilled youth. Through this scheme, he said highly educated men and women would be provided loans to economically strengthen themselves. “This, as a result, will bring economic prosperity,” the governor concluded. On this occasion, Careem MD Junaid Iqbal told the audience that his company is aiming to provide cars to almost 100,000 individuals until Dec 31, 2020. Many officers attended this event, including JS Bank Chief Executive Officer Khalid Imran. The governor also gave car keys to Abdul Ghafoor to help improve his employment prospects.
