UBG wins majority seats in FPCCI election 2018
KARACHI: Majority of candidates nominated by United Business Group (UBG) have succeeded in the elections of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for 2018 term.
According to unofficial results on Friday, the UBG won on all the leading seats including the slots of president and the senior vice president. The provisional results showed that the UBG nominated candidates for vice presidents have also won 10 seats out of 11. Two candidates for vice president have already been elected unopposed, one being a UBG candidate.
The UBG’s presidential candidate Ghazanfar Balour was unofficially elected by defeating Senator Haji Ghulam Ali. Meanwhile, Mazhar Ali Nasir another nominee of the UBG defeated Mian Nasir Hayat Magoo for senior vice president.
For the reserve seats of Women Chamber, Saeeda Bano was elected. Similarly, another businesswoman Shabnam Zafar has been elected vice president and made history after contesting and winning the seat allotted to Sindh Chamber. The provisional results show the UBG nominees, including Waheed Ahmed, Zahid Saeed, Tariq Haleem and Karim Aziz Malik, to have also secured all the four seats in the Association Class. Malik Iftekhar, Chairman, UBG and S M Muneer congratulated the business community on the historic win and vowed to serve the business community by eliminating the core issues that are impeding growth of the economy.
