KP hires ex-babu as Pedo head, flouting rules
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has appointed Sahibzada Saeed, a former bureaucrat, as chairman of the borad of directors of KP Energy Development Organisation in violation of rules and regulations. Saeed is considered an influential personality in PTI circles, which is why he is not only Pedo chairman but is also on board of many other organisations.
According to documents, after resignation of former chairman Shakeel Durrani, KP government through a letter dated August 17, 2016, reformed the Pedo board by appointing Saeed as its chairman.
According to Pedo Act 1993, the government is to appoint for three years a chairman from the board members. The chairman is supposed to have at least 20 years experience in energy and power, industries and financial matters. Interestingly, the PTI government had made these amendments in 1014 in the rules for appointment of the chairman. Violating its own criterion, the KP government made Saeed’s appointment.
