THE Punjab government approved nine development schemes of various sectors with an estimated cost of Rs15.938 billion.
These schemes were approved in the 37th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) of current fiscal year 2014-15 presided over by the Punjab Chairman P&D Board Muhammad Irfan Elahi.
Provincial Secretary P&D Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, members of the Planning and Development Board, Provincial Secretary concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.
According to spokesman of the Planning and Development, the approved schemes are construction of 100-bed new Emergency Block at Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Lahore at the cost of Rs514.451 million, establishment of 500-bed Wah General Hospital, Tehsil Taxila, District Rawalpindi at the cost of Rs1.62 billion, up-gradation of DHQ Hospital Vehari as a 300-bed, Vehari at the cost of Rs625.357 million, widening/improvement of road from Kot Nainan to Sukho Chak in District Narowal at the cost of Rs465.466 million, construction of Ghabir Dam Project, District Chakwal at the cost of Rs5.132 billion, remodelling of SMB Link Canal and Enhancing Capacity of Mailsi Syphon District Vehari (revised) at the cost of Rs4.534 billion, protecting Banuhan opposite Basti Rindan & Jakhar Imam Shah in District DG Khan at the cost of Rs246.021 million, capacity enhancement of the Punjab Police for Establishment of the Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control & Communication (PPIC) Centre (PC-II) (revised) at the cost of Rs163.794 million and Punjab Accelerated Functional Literacy and NFBE Project at the cost of Rs2.7 billion.
