“Giving consumers access to information will exert pressure on us [government and DISCOs] to bring more betterment, efficiency and transparency to the system, as around 25 million power meters owners can any time access to this information by inserting their consumer reference number in this application through their cell phone. It will present our everyday performance to the public too and make us hold accountable,” Federal Minister for Energy [Power Division] Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari said this while launching this mobile application for energy consumers here on Tuesday. Secretary on the Ministry Yousaf Naseem Khokhar was also present at this occasion.

Leghari said that we retrieve the 100pc correct information of the offices and computers of 10 Distribution companies [Discos], which were earlier not accessible even to MNAs, federal and state ministers and other such official. “We are now taking this information from the dashboards of the prime minister and minister of power and taking them to the common people through this publically available service,” he said. “We have brought this information from the DISCOs to the palm of a consumer,” he added.
