PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) General Secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain has rejected the decision to approve new route for the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor and said the rights of smaller provinces were being usurped for vested interest.
In a press statement issued here Tuesday, he said at the All Parties Conference convened by ANP in Islamabad all the political parties had agreed to resist change in the route of Kashgar-Gawadar Economic Corridor and had urged the government not to change the original design of the course.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain said the federal cabinet, by trampling the interests of smaller provinces, had enhanced the sense of deprivation among the smaller provinces. He said the ANP would soon work out strategy against this dictatorial decision of the federal cabinet so that the actual route could be restored.
The ANP leader said they have already taken up the issue with the Chinese ambassador and asked China to implement the actual project which would bring economic development to the smaller provinces.Mian Iftikhar alleged that the federal government was misleading the people.
