Shahbaz’s nomination positive only if allowed to pursue his vision: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister Chaudary Nisar Ali has said that the decision to nominate Mian Shahbaz Sharif can prove positive only if he is allowed to work according to his vision and capabilities.
He said the PML-N as a political and ruling party is passing through a critical phase. The decisions should be made on logic rather than emotions. He said it is extremely important that the decisions are taken after political consultative process. Ch Nisar said political parties are not run through tweets and tickers. Neither foisting of the decisions made by non-political elements improves the stature of political parties, he added.
During his informal talk to media persons, Ch Nisar said that he is against the policy of confrontation because he believes that we should focus on our political adversaries and refrain from being embroiled into unnecessary controversies. He said no political worker can even think of becoming part of the anti-judiciary movement.
Nisar said the PML-N is not just a political party but also a democratic party. He said it is a matter of satisfaction and delight for him that freedom of expression existed in the party which, he continued, is not being offered by any other party. “Perhaps this is the basis of my 33-year-long affiliation with the PML-N,” said Ch Nisar, “But I still believe that the need for freedom of expression was never as great as it is today.”
He said he does not even consider any person a politician who has not contested the local council elections. Though such non-political figures have the right to express their opinion and give advice, there is no room for them to foist their opinion upon the party. He said those non-political elements who want to formulate a narrative that targets national institutions can never make any place among the masses.
Ch Nisar said that in view of the present circumstances and the forthcoming election, it is important that the PML-N should formulate an effective and consensus based narrative. This narrative besides encompassing solutions for political, economic and national issues must reflect the performance of the party during the past four and a half years. Only such a narrative can enable us to win the support of masses. The need for such a narrative has also become great in view of the international developments and the direct and indirect pressures on the country.
