KP govt to introduce sociocultural training at educational institutions
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has recognised the value of socio-cultural promotion at grassroots level/classrooms for inculcating enlightened values in society on the pattern of defunct National Cadet Corps (NCC).
Taking cognizance of the situation, Chief Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan has come up with an idea of Good Citizen Corps (GCC). It is aimed at inculcating the values of tolerance, cooperation and promotion of civic rights/duties through focused educational training. In a meeting at the chief secretary's office, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department and Culture, Sports, Tourism, Archaeology and Youth Affairs were directed to prepare a list of items for socio-cultural activities along with verifiable implementation and monitoring mechanism for the purpose as soon as possible.
A certificate in this regard will be awarded to the students and the dedicated marks will be added up to their total marks secured in annual examination conducted by respective educational boards. Under NCC, students were imparted training of the first aid activities, use of basic weapons and to tackle emergencies in war-time situation.
