PESHAWAR: The Director General NAB KP Brig (Retd) Farooq Naser Awan handed over cheque worth Rs2.234 million to an official of the provincial government.
The amount, which had been recovered in various cases, was handed over to Abdul Haseeb Khan, deputy secretary, Finance Department KP at a ceremony held here. In the first case, during the course of investigation it was revealed that accused persons illegally generated 45 fake personnel numbers of non-existing, fake and ghost employees of Education Department, Battagram, and drawn salaries worth millions of rupees. The aforesaid mentioned amount was recovered from some of the accused persons.
In the second case, a reference was filed against the accused Ikram Shah, ex-Executive Engineer C&W Department, KP, for accumulation of assets beyond known source of income. The accountability court convicted the accused for seven years rigorous imprisonment along with fine and forfeiture of his movable/immovable properties.
