Standards discussed for licence to labs

LAHORE

Punjab Healthcare Commission Tuesday held a consultation with senior pathologists, experts and other stakeholders on minimum service delivery standards (MSDS) for laboratories, and the parameters for the registration and licensing of clinical and pathology laboratories.

According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, the participants included senior faculty medical colleges and pathologists from the public and private sectors from across Punjab including Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Gujranwala, Chakwal, Sargodha, DG Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bahawalpur and Okara besides participants form Lahore. The participants included representatives from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, Agha Khan University Hospital Laboratory and others.

Former Commandant Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and President College of Pathologists Prof Dr Farooq Ahmed Khan rendered expert opinion on the subject. The participants appreciated the initiative of the PHC towards the improvement of the quality of healthcare service in consultation with the stakeholders.

Director Clinical Governance and Organisational Standards PHC Dr Mushtaq Ahmed gave a detailed presentation to the participants about the PHC and its regulatory framework. Director Licensing and Accreditation, PHC, Dr Muhammad Anwar Janjua talked about various aspects of the registration and licensing of laboratories.
