Nawaz returns to Lahore, will launch drive for rule of law
ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif landed in Lahore on Sunday after spending over 10 days in London.
He arrived in the city with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and headed straight to his Jati Umra residence. On December 5 the two had departed for London to see Kulsoom Nawaz who had been undergoing treatment for cancer in the British capital.
Addressing media in London before his departure for Pakistan on Saturday Nawaz Sharif had announced that he would spearhead a fully-fledged movement for the rule of law and supremacy of the Constitution in the country.
SABAH adds: Nawaz Sharif had departed for London after being exempted from appearing before the Accountability Court to attend to his ailing wife Kulsoom Nawaz.
Nawaz had been granted exemption from appearing before the court till December 12. The last hearing for the case was conducted on the 11th and the next will be held on December 19 in which both Nawaz and Maryam are expected to appear before the court.
