Cop martyred as man opens fire on police

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A policeman was martyred as an unidentified man opened fire on a police team during checking in the limits of Paharpur police precincts on Sunday.

The police were checking people at Marwan bridge on a tip-off that a suspected person was travelling in a vehicle in Paharpur area. When the police signalled a vehicle to stop, a man in the vehicle opened fire on them and fled the scene.

As a result, Constable Sanaullah received bullet injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Officials said, the police cordoned off the area and started search operation to arrest the culprit.
