Senior journalist dies
LAHORE: Mohammed Afzal Khan, one of the most credible and informed journalists in Pakistan, passed away after a protracted illness in the USA.
He started his career with Imroze in Multan and continued to work for leading newspapers of the region till his last months. Afzal Khan was a beacon of light and encouragement for his colleagues and juniors.
He fought long battles for freedom of press under the banner of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and struggled for democracy against the successive martial laws and crackdowns on media, says a statement received here on Thursday.
Afzal Khan was a prolific reporter and commentator and worked for almost all English language newspapers during his long career. He was also one of the founders of SAFMA. His services and contribution will always be remembered. He was a great friend and a fascinating personality.
