Court wants Memon’s medical report in 15 days

The accountability court hearing a corruption reference against former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Memon on Wednesday directed the provincial health secretary to set up a medical broad to examine the Pakistan Peoples Party leader’s condition and submit a report within 15 days.

The AC-I told the secretary to clearly explain the nature of Memon’s ailment and whether it was possible for him to be treated in jail or was shifting him to a hospital imperative. The court directed the secretary to include specialists in different medical branches on the board.  

Dr Asim case

The accountability court hearing a graft reference of more than Rs17 billion against former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain reserved its ruling on a plea for quashment of the reference. The NAB prosecutor had earlier opposed the plea, citing the monetary figure and misuse of power involved in the case. In this graft case, Dr Asim and others stand accused of committing corruption of more than Rs17 billion by granting illegal Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) contracts.
