LANDIKOTAL: The authorities at Torkham border foiled a bid to smuggle ammunition from Afghanistan and arrested an Afghan national, official said on Monday.
Havaldar Rahmanuddin said that a team of Khassadars, including Shakeel, Rizwan and Ayaz stopped a truck (KBL-31216) on the border and recovered 1560 rounds of 12-bore and 1200 cartons of bullets from the hidden cavities of the vehicle. An Afghan national, Khayal Nabi, was arrested and sent to the lock-up in Landikotal. It may be added here that it was the fourth major smuggling bid foiled in the last four weeks at Torkham border.
