PESAHAWR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has launched an inquiry into a mega scam of sending inflated power bills to consumers amounting to Rs240 million in Hazara.
A press release issued here Tuesday stated that the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) over-burdened the domestic consumers to hide the corruption of its Hazara staff.
The NAB KP initiated an inquiry into the mega scam of overbilling 25,000 consumers.
It said that during the course of inquiry, it was revealed that the officials of Pesco Hazara-I and II circles tampered with the records and sent inflated bills to accommodate 40 million units line losses.
The communication said the power stolen in connivance with the staff of the two circles. It said that the Pesco officials also issued Meter Change Orders (MCOs) to consumers but in official records these meters were never replaced. It said the investigation also revealed use of the same tactics in the remaining three circles of Hazara as well.
