LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch expressed serious concern over government’s "diminishing" writ on sugar millers who were denying the growers to pay Rs180 per maund price fixed by the government as sugarcane procurement price.
He was talking to Kisan Board Pakistan President, Ch Nisar Ahmed advocate, who called on him on Monday and apprised him of the problems of sugarcane growers.
Liaqat Baloch said sugarcane growers all over the province had made protests on which government machinery had become active. Liaqat Baloch assured the KBP president of all-out support in the rightful demands of cane growers. He said that the government would not be allowed to exploit the growers.
He said KBP was the representative body of the growers and the JI would extend its full support to it for the solution of the growers' problems.
