ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice of a news item, revealing that there is no uniform admission policy for admission to private medical colleges.
The new story also mentioned an exorbitant fee, being charged by private medical colleges. Students, who cannot get admission to the government medical colleges, are forced to get admission to private medical colleges, which charge exorbitant fee. The CJ has called a detailed report from Registrar, Pakistan Medial & Dental Council (PM&DC), Islamabad, within one week to ascertain:-
(i) The admission merit criterion of private medical colleges;
(ii) Structure of fee schedule and maximum limit of fee that private medical colleges can charge; (iii) The role of PM&DC in regulating the admissions and fee charged by private medical colleges; (iv) Action in this regard, so far taken by PM&DC, if any.
