‘Entire nation proud of Pak powerlifters’
LAHORE: Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan has showered praise on Pakistani powerlifting team upon winning 15 gold medals at the Oceania Pacific Powerlifting Championship in Singapore. Admiring the great performance on Monday, Secretary Sports Punjab Aamir Jan said that it is an exceptional feat of Pakistani powerlifting team particularly three female athletes Saniha Ghafoor, Twinkle Sohail and Sybil Sohail, who won four gold medals each. “Literally, Pakistani powerlifting team has made the entire nation proud by winning 15 gold medals. It is a proud moment for all of us on this great accomplishment,” he added. Aamir Jan said achieving gold medal in an international tournament is impossible without hard work. “Our powerlifters have proved that Pakistan has bright future in the field of powerlifting,” he opined. It’s pertinent to mention that female powerlifters - Sybil won four gold medals in the 47kg category while Saniha and Twinkle bagged same number of medals in 57kg and 72kg category respectively. Pakistan’s male powerlifters M Ahmad Khan (105kg), Syed Nadeem Hashmi (105kg) and Mahmood Heera (120kg) also got one gold medal each in their respective competitions.
