LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) central leader and Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz has said holding of on-time, fair and free elections is vital for future of Pakistan, and any delay will plunge it into darkness and disappointment.

He said development of country is more important than the power and policies and democracy should continue at any cost, so that sustainable development could be ensured. Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, which was the 4th phase of Rs7 billion 116,000 laptops programme, Hamza said achievements in the field of education in Punjab are remarkable. He said new trends have been set by the PML-N government and it has been determined that no one get popularity with hollow slogans, and practical work has to be done for the purpose.

He said that leadership is not based on making tall claims and masses could not be satisfied with false promises. Hamza said now we all should show maturity in politics; we should refrain from pulling legs of each other and demonstrate unity and solidarity for the sake of the country. He said the people of Pakistan are well aware of services of political parties and they can better decide who should be given mandate in the 2018 elections. He said those who were criticising Metro Bus in Punjab, are now trying to copy the same in the last year of the government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province.

Hamza said the welfare of masses is the real leadership and power and new generation is the future of this atomic power, which cannot be dictated by the foreign elements. He claimed only in Punjab various power projects including Sahiwal coal power project, Bhikki, Haveli Bahadur Shah and Bahawalpur solar projects have been completed, which have ended loadshedding in the province.

He said we all should endeavour to build Pakistan according to the dreams of Quaid and Iqbal and this generation is full of talent to achieve the goal. He said only from Daanish School, 500 students are getting laptops, while overall 116,000 students would be given benefit in the 4th phase.

Hamza said Rs17 billion were being distributed as scholarship through Punjab Endowment Fund for 235,000 students, which would be increased up to 350,000 students with the addition of Rs6 billion. He said there is not a single penny corruption in the projects of Punjab and those levelling allegations should move the courts with proofs.
