Scattered rain predicted

Cold weather with partly cloudy conditions was witnessed in the provincial capital here Sunday while Met office predicted scattered rain during the next 24 hours.

Met officials said a westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and may persist in upper parts of the country until Wednesday. They predicted that rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in upper Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Fata, South Punjab, northeast Balochistan and upper Sindh. Cold and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.

On Sunday, weather remained cold and dry in most parts of the country; however, isolated rain-thunderstorm occurred in Bahawalpur division where rainfall was recorded at Rahimyar Khan (03mm) and Khanpur (01mm). Met officials said Sunday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Kalat and Quetta where mercury dropped down to -06°C while in Lahore, maximum temperature was 20°C, minimum was 6.5°C and humidity level was 36 percent.
