Protest threatened against ‘rules violations’ at CIIT
Islamabad: The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association threatened countrywide protest against the alleged violation of rules and irregularities at the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, Islamabad.
In a joint statement, FAPUASA central president Dr Kaleemullah Barech and Islamabad chapter president Dr Shahzad Ashraf said the academic freedom and freedom of expression had been deliberately curtailed to suppress the voices of CIIT faculty, who played an important role in making the institute a reputed organisation.
They warned that if the authorities didn't ensure corrective measures, the FAPUASA would give a call for countrywide protests. They said the years long services of employees and faculty at the CIIT were being terminated without any notice by the ad-hoc administration, where some top men, also worked for different organisations.
