Security issues
December 08, 2017
The lack of security at bus stations in Rawalpindi is a major issue. Security personnel deployed at points of entry do not check the IDs of people entering the bus stations. I visited one of the bus stations of the city this Sunday afternoon and found out that almost everyone was entering the station without any security checks. When asked, one official said that people do not cooperate when they are asked to show their ID. However, at the point of exit of the same station, security guards were diligently checking the IDs of the vehicles and of the people leaving the premises.
The country is passing through difficult times. Careless employees are the biggest threat to security. There should be proper security controls at all points of entry and exit. Any lapses in security can result in extreme consequences. Therefore, steps should be taken to ensure the safety of passengers and their families.
