PPP leadership in UAE to stand by democracy in Pakistan
DUBAI: The Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) local leaders in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have pledged to support and stand by democracy and democratic institutions and expressed concerns on the state’s writ about extremism.
The PPP UAE organised a double celebration event in Dubai to celebrate 46th National Day of the UAE as well as 50th foundation day of the party. Central information secretary of the PPP Chaudhry Manzoor said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would be the next prime minister of Pakistan and he would ensure the rule of law after coming into power.
Chaudhry Manzoor was addressing the gathering through telephone and conveyed the message of the party’s leadership to the guests. The celebration was attended by the PPP workers, supporters and sympathisers including Sardar Javed Yaqoob, Rashid Chughtai, Mian Muneer Hans, Qaiser Ghuman, Malik Khadeem Shaheen, Shireen Durrani and Zahida Malik.
Speaking on the occasion, former adviser to AJK government Sardar Javed Yaqoob said the PPP will continue to serve the nation as per the mission of Benazir Bhutto and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
Sardar Javed Yaqoob paid rich tribute to founder of UAE Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto who laid the foundation of democracy in Pakistan and revolted against dictatorship. He hoped the PPP would clinch victory in the next elections.
Rashid Chughtai said ZA Bhutto and the party leadership had sacrificed their lives for the liberation of common Pakistanis from tyranny and oppression. He reiterated the party's agenda and said the struggle, whose basis was laid by ZA Bhutto and Benazir, will continue and the power will be vested in the public.
Qaiser Ghuman said the current situation of the state was very alarming due to extremism. He asked the parliamentarians not to let the society move towards extremism, especially religious fanatics. Mian Munir Hans stated that the PPP rendered many sacrifices time and again to make Pakistan democratically strong.
Malik Khadim Shaheen said the party has completed 50 years in the political arena of Pakistan with the help of the general public and dedicated party workers.
The PPP women wing leader Shireen Durrani said the PPP was the voice of the poor and oppressed people of the country and no one could block its path towards achieving victory. Another leader of women wing Zahida Malik said the PPP would continue its struggle for the rights of the people forever. At the conclusion of the celebration, the party leaders cut the cake of golden jubilee of the PPP and 46th UAE National Day.
