Minor drowns in drain

LAHORE: A two-and-a-half-year old child fell down in the drain in the Kahna police limits on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Faizan. Police have handed over body to the victim’s family. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old man was recovered dead from Liaqat Chowk, Sabzazar. Police have started searching for his family.
THREE DIE: Three persons, including a young girl, lost their lives in different road traffic accidents in the provincial metropolis on Wednesday.In Shahdara, Ahsan Ali was on his way on a motorbike along with his mother and sister Tayyeba. As they reached near Shahdara Morr, a speeding bus hit them. As a result, they received injuries. They were rushed to hospital where Tayyeba succumbed to injuries.
In Factory Area, a speeding car hit a bike. As a result, Ghulam Fareed and his friend Ikram-ul-Haq received injuries. They were rushed to General Hospital where both succumbed to injuries. In Nishtar Colony, two motorcyles collided near Nishat Stop. As a result, three persons identified as Ahmad Ali, Asghar Ali and Rehan Ali received injuries. They were shifted to hospital for treatment.
PHP: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) on Wednesday claimed to have foiled two dacoity attempts and arrested eight dacoits. According to a handout, PHP post Kala Shah Kaku received information that five persons were sitting near a motorway interchange with an intention to commit dacoity. A patrolling team rushed to the spot and arrested them and seized two pistols. In another incident, three dacoits stopped an official vehicle of PHP while its flashing lights were off. Meanwhile, they tried to flee but the patrolling team arrested them. After that, PHP found three people in the nearby fields as their hands were tied with a rope.
PHP also registered 379 cases against traffic violators, impounded four motorbikes for fake registration or green number plates on them. Moreover, a PHP team arrested eight drunks and four bike riders on charges of wheelie-doing. Cases have been registered against them. PHP arrested 39 people on installing prohibited gas cylinders and other charges.
