PESHAWAR: More than 100 primary schools have been initially selected for Continuous Professional Development (CPD) of teachers in Peshawar and Swat districts.
A total of 800 primary schoolteachers have been trained so far. The CPD is implemented by the Provincial Institute of Teacher Education (PITE) and aims to bring a significant improvement in the teaching skills of teachers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The KP Elementary and Secondary Education Department (ESED), with the collaboration of Provincial Institute of Teacher Education (PITE), stared the pilot programme this year in September.
An academic calendar for the training has also been developed by the Provincial Institute of Teacher Education (PITE). Under this training, various capacity building trainings sessions and refresher courses have also been arranged to ensure teaching techniques are up to date and modern.
Recognising the importance of teacher preparation, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has spent more than Rs800 million on professional development activities for teachers.
