MOSCOW: CSKA Moscow thrashed promoted Tosno 6-0 on Friday to keep Russian Premier League table-toppers Lokomotiv Moscow within reach.
Brazilian midfielder Vitinho netted a brace, while Viktor Vasin, Bebars Natcho, Alexander Golovin and Pontus Wernbloom also scored as CSKA climbed to second, four points adrift of Lokomotiv.
Spartak Moscow jumped up to third, one point further back, following a 1-0 win at Arsenal Tula.
Vitinho fired last season’s runners-up CSKA ahead with a 10th-minute penalty, with the Brazilian scoring again from the spot before the half-hour.
Vasin soon made it 3-0, with Natcho, Golovin and Wernbloom all striking with six second-half minutes to complete the rout.
Spartak extended their domestic winning streak to four matches courtesy of a last-minute cracker by Denis Glushakov.
