ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan has been asked not to accept nomination papers of candidates for Senate seats who have been imported from other provinces and awarded tickets from a province in which they do not reside permanently.
Senior Advocate Azhar Siddique, on behalf of one Munir Ahmad, has requested the ECP to follow articles 59, 62, 17 and 218 of the Constitution in letter and spirit and do not allow any candidate to enter the upper House of Parliament who has been awarded
Senate ticket by a political party head from a province other than of his permanent residence as it will be violation of the Constitution.
The ECP has been asked to comply with 62(1)(c)(d)(e) read with articles 59, 17 and 218(3) of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973, disqualifying the person(s) who had submitted their nomination papers temporary changing the residence to other provinces.
