A Chinese food festival kicked off at the Pearl Continental Hotel on Thursday, the first day of the Chinese new year.
The festival commenced with a celebration reception, followed by a buffet dinner with a whole lot of mouth-watering culinary delights.
Chinese Consul General in Karachi Ma Yaou and Pearl Continental Hotel Manager Rehan Faiz Pirzada jointly inaugurated the festival by cutting a cake.
Pirzada later told the media that the festival was an annual feature of the hotel but it was not meant only to promote the hotel’s business.
He said the festival was supposed to familiarise the people of both countries with each other’s customs and culture and bring them closer. It is a national duty that the hotel is performing, he added.
Pirzada said the hotel also sponsored food festivals featuring culinary delights of other countries, with the same objective: bringing people of different countries closer. — Anil Datta
