ISLAMABAD: The Interior Ministry has decided to investigate the matter relating to issuance of old notification to requisite the Army under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan in aide to civil authorities to handle the situation erupted after Faizabad dharna by Tehreek Labaik Pakistan protesters for last three weeks. The News has learnt that after unsuccessful and failed operation by the federal government to disperse the protestors, decision was taken to call the Army in support of civil authorities. The Interior Ministry issued a notification in this regard.

Nobody noticed unless the media reported that the notification was old one and was issued at the time when ECO summit was held in Islamabad many years back. The notification was issued without any careful reading by the competent authority. When the media pointed it out, the notification was withdrawn by the ministry and a fresh notification was issued. Spokesperson for the Interior Ministry talking to The News on phone said that aninquiry would be conducted by the ministry to know actual reason for issuance old notification. If this was a mistake then responsible officer will be given warning and in case it is found that it was deliberate attempt to malign the government, then responsible officer would be dealt strictly.
