UVAS declamation contest

LAHORE
The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Saturday organised the All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest.
Students from various universities participated in the contest. In English debate, Rameesa Khan of Punjab University got first position, Haris Ali Virk of Government College University (GCU) Lahore got second and Qurat-ul-Ain of University of Engineering and Technology got third position.
In Urdu debate, Haseeb Ahmad Ameen got first position, Arif Nazar got second and Kashaf Saher Rana got third position. Punjab University’s team won overall first position in the contest.
GCU Lahore Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah and UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha presented trophies to the winners of the contest. Senior Tutor Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and Prof Dr Asim Aslam were also present on the occasion.
workshopS: A two-day workshop on migratory birds concluded at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Saturday.
The Departments of Clinical Medicine and Surgery (CMS) and Parasitology jointly organised workshops on “role of migratory birds in disease dissemination” and “handling and restraining of migratory birds with tick identification”. UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha chaired the concluding session and distributed certificates among the participants.
Prof Dr Shahid Karim of University of Mississippi, USA, Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani and Dr Imran Rasheed were resource persons at the workshops.
The objective of the workshops was to highlight the importance of migratory birds in ecosystem and threats faced by these species in Pakistan. The workshops also highlighted the role of these birds in diseases dissemination. The workshops recommended measures to minimise these diseases.
Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha stressed for developing linkages and taking steps for prevention of diseases spread by migratory birds.
Meanwhile, UVAS, Center for Education Policy and Administration (CEPA) in collaboration with the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) organised GRE Fulbright Orientation seminar for its final year students and faculty members.
USEFP Test Preparation Principal Adviser Zeeshan Rahat Qureshi was the resource person. He introduced USEFP, five steps to higher education in USA, fulbright scholarship programmes, GRE/TOEFL orientation, and preparing and appearing for the test.
