Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) will raise issue of privatisation of the Wapda in the next session of the National Assembly.
This was stated by the JI parliamentary secretary in the National Assembly Sahibzada Tariqullah MNA while addressing a seminar, which was held to raise voice over concerns of Wapda employees regarding planned privatisation of the authority.
The seminar was organised by the National Labour Federation and Iesco Labour Unity. The seminar besides others was also addressed by the NLF president Shamsur Rehman Swati, Iesco Labour Unity President Ashiq Khan and General Secretary Tanvir Shah.
The speakers observed that the privatisation of the Wapda will be considered as economic murder of workers.
The JI parliamentary leader said that the JI would also organise an All Parties Conference (APC) on the issue. He said the political forces should adopt a joint strategy on the sensitive issue.
NLF President Shamsur Rehman Swati said that the NLF along with other labour unions would launch a movement against planned privatisation of Wapda. He warned the government to refrain from its plans.
