Senior sports journalists Sarfraz, Qayyum honoured

LAHORE: Senior sports journalists Sarfraz Ahmed and Qayyum Zahid were honoured in a reception by Lahore Press Club (LPC) on Friday.
The reception by LPC was followed after these two senior sports journalists were recognised in an Asian sports journalists congress organized by the Pakistan Sports Writer Federation (PSWF) at Islamabad last month. There they were given life time achievement award for their contribution in the field of sports journalism. Sarfraz Ahmad of ‘The News’ and Qayyum Zahid of ‘Online’ received the honorary shields while the third recipient Zahid Maqsood could not make due to his pressing engagements.
Former chief selector and Test cricketer Salahuddin Ahmad Sallu especially flown from Karachi to grace the occasion on the request of the LPC while former Pakistan cricket team manager Azhar Zaidi and former LCCA secretary Mian Javed Ali were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Salahuddin Sallu paid rich tributes to the senior sports journalists for their contribution in sports journalism. Azhar Zaidi and Mian Javed also expressed the words of praise for these journalists for their long-standing contribution for Pakistan sports.
