LAHORE: Minister of State for Power Chaudhry Abid Sher Ali lauded the unending efforts of all quarters concerned to overcome load-shedding, a statement said on Friday. He was chairing a meeting on power system constraints in which CEOs of all distribution companies (DISCOs) and other senior officials of the power sector were present. Ali directed the heads of power sector entities to complete their ongoing projects well before time to remove system constraints. At present, surplus electricity is available in the system; however, due to certain system constraints and line losses, load-shedding is being carried out at DISCOs level, he said. He affirmed that the present government aims at shutting down all expensive oil-based powerplants to ensure availability of cheaper energy for consumers.
