Spurious drugs seized

LAHORE :A team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Lahore, led by Deputy Director Jameel Ahmed Khan Mayo Wednesday raided a laboratory and seized a huge quantity of spurious drugs.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency officer, the raid was conducted on Neelum Laboratories and Dawakhana, 196-D Nawab Town, Raiwind Road. He said a huge quantity of spurious drugs, manufactured under the garb of herbal medicines, worth millions of rupees were seized.
The Federal Investigation Agency official said 51different fake brands of tablets, capsules, syrup and powders were being manufactured and supplied to 2,000 medical stores across Pakistan. Machinery has also been taken into custody, he said, adding that the main accused and owners of the laboratory named Mazhar Hashmi and Khawaja Irfan were arrested.
