KARACHI: The decision of staging the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Karachi next year has rejuvenated cricket fandom in Karachi, feels former chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu.
“Cricket fans in Karachi are super excited to know that the final of PSL’s third edition will be held in Karachi. I have met a lot of people here who are very happy with this development and are praising PCB Chairman Najam Sethi,” Sallu told PPI.
“The Karachiites are eager to watch their heroes play at National Stadium.”He said that NLC, the construction company, in consultation with NesPak, would complete the renovation work at National Stadium Karachi well within time for PSL matches.
Apart from the final, Karachi would be hosting three more matches during Pakistan’s biggest sports extravaganza.“The work at National Stadium is being done quickly. The roofs of the stands and enclosures have been installed. The work on the dressing rooms and washrooms are under way,” he said.
He said that the PSL has produced many quality players who are representing the national side and added that the hosting of the matches in the country would have a more positive impact.
“Our team is in a building process. We are yet to find a perfect opening combination. The middle-order has also become weak since the departure of Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan.“PSL would certainly help us in finding those replacements.”He, however, praised Pakistan’s pace attack and said that it is a force to reckon with.
