US recommits to support energy sector

LAHORE: The US is committed to working together with Pakistan to help meet its growing energy needs, an official at United States Agency for International Development (USAID) said on Wednesday.
“We are supporting Pakistan's infrastructure and operational improvements and promoting policy reforms to help the energy sector function more efficiently,” Lea Swanson of USAID said at International Conference on Energy Conservation & Efficiency 2017.
Highlighting the two countries partnership in energy sector, Swanson said US-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Energy was harnessing applied research to find innovative and practical solution for Pakistan’s energy challenges.
Hosted by hosted by University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, the conference brought together engineers, researchers, energy experts, manufacturers and building designers to explore and exchange ideas in the rapidly growing field of energy efficiency and conservation strategies.
