NEW DELHI: The Delhi and District Cricket Association will inaugurate stands at the Feroz Shah Kotla named after former greats Bishan Singh Bedi and Mohinder Amarnath during their first annual conclave on November 29. Apart from Bedi and Amarnath, DDCA will also honour former women’s captain Anjum Chopra by naming gates 3 and 4 after her. Bedi will also be the keynote speaker on the occasion where the renovated MAK Pataudi Hall of Fame will be inaugurated. The DDCA had already honoured former Indian opener Virender Sehwag by naming a gate after him on the eve of the first T20I between India and New Zealand recently and have decided to honour more players in the future. It has also been decided to name the home team’s dressing room after Raman Lamba and the opposition’s dressing room after Prakash Bhandari. While Bhandari is the first Test cricketer from Delhi, Lamba was a former Indian batsman who died after being hit on the head during a club match in Bangladesh. For a player to have a gate/stand/pavilion named after him, he should have played a minimum of 35 Test matches, according to the DDCA.
