ISLAMABAD: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have taken measures to protect government buildings, media houses, educational institutions, hospitals and trade centers in the light of intelligence agencies’ reports that terrorists were planning to hit soft targets in the Islamabad Red Zone and the garrison areas of Rawalpindi and Wah.
Police sources told The News on Tuesday that the intelligence agencies had communicated to the LEAs that different terrorist outfits attached to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were planning to hit soft targets in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Wah.
Joint patrolling of Rangers and Elite Force has been enhanced in sensitive areas to combat terrorist attempts.The police authorities are also visiting the media houses, educational institutions and hospitals to plug security loopholes.
