PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Sherpao has said his party was a staunch opponent of undemocratic moves.
He was addressing a press conference wherein some leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Muhammad Afzal and Malik Adeel Awan with their family members and supporters announced joining the QWP.
Aftab Sherpao welcomed the new entrants to the party and hoped they would be an asset to it. The QWP chief said the country could not bear undemocratic moves as it would lead towards political instability, which would badly hit the economy. He criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman for what he called double-standards as Imran Khan had objected to the metro bus in other cities, but now he himself had launched the work on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and made the lives of the people miserable through traffic jams. The QWP chief said the PTI chief's demand for snap poll was unrealistic and an insult to the public mandate.
Aftab Sherpao added that QWP was the staunch supporter of the rule of law and democratic process and said his party wanted the election as per schedule. The QWP chief demanded an end to the line dividing Pakhtuns between settled and tribal areas.
