Private hostels

November 20, 2017
Students living in private hostels in Lahore are being treated unfairly by hostel authorities. Facilities provided in these hostels are unsatisfactory. Unhygienic food, unavailability of drinking water, absence of a WiFi system and an unconducive study environment are major problems students have to deal with on a daily basis. In some hostels, a room which can accommodate hardly two students has been allotted to three students. During the winter season, unavailability of hot water force many students take bath with cold water.
High rent and lack of checks and balances on students’ activities – for example listening to music at full volume during night – have further aggravated the misery of students tackling deplorable conditions of private hostels. This does not only have a negative effect on studies of the students, but it also wastes their precious time and money. The Punjab Punjab government must take stern action against this negligence and carelessness of private hostels. It should conduct the survey of all private hostels in order to resolve these issues of students.
