Young women’s health issues highlighted

A seminar “Know Yourself: Women Health Challenges and Emerging Issues” was organised by Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Kinnaird College for Women in collaboration with South Asian Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SAFOG) at the college on Saturday.
The seminar was aimed at creating awareness among young women about reproductive health and its impact on their later lives as women's health issues are mostly undermined in Pakistani society and they need recognition.
Experts from diverse medical specialties came together to discuss the latest topics and women's diseases, and the role of maintenance of a healthy lifestyle to overcome the issues. Creating awareness about contraceptives and importance of family planning were also a part of the discussion.
SAFOG President Dr Rubina Sohail chaired the seminar. Kinnaird College for Women Principal Dr Rukhsana David praised the collaborative work with SAFOG.
The seminar was addressed by the panellists and speakers, including Professor Dr Samia Malik, National Hospital, Defense; Professor Dr Nabila Shami, Surgimed Hospital; Professor Dr Farhat Naz, Lahore General Hospital; Professor Dr Shumaila Hanif, Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore; Professor Dr Alia Bashir, Lady Willingdon Hospital and Professor Dr Fareeha Farooqi, Farooq Hospital. People from all walks of life participated in the event. One of the participants Madiha suggested conducing such kind of seminars in all women educational institutions in the country.
