ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal issued orders to Punjab NAB Director General on Saturday to probe alleged irregularities in 56 public limited companies of the Punjab.
He took notice of the reported corruption, nepotism, squandering of resources, irregularities in tendering and procurement, favouritism, non-transparency, non-completion of projects, violations of PPRA rules, and complaints of evading regular audit by these public limited companies.
The chairman ordered the Lahore NAB director general to conduct inquiries against the companies. The chairman also directed NAB officials to avoid stopping any company from functioning without availability of evidence against it. The relevant laws must be complied with in this regard.
A day earlier NAB Lahore chapter had recommended to its headquarters in Islamabad to place the names of former Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, his sons Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Mohammad Safdar on the Exit Control List.
Two days earlier, the NAB had recommended to put the name of Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on the ECL following the order of accountability court which issued non-bailable warrant for arrest of Senator Ishaq Dar.
