PESHAWAR: Senior lawyer Qazi Muhammad Anwar has received the power of attorney to contest the case of a girl who was allegedly stripped and paraded naked in a village in Dera Ismail Khan.
Qazi Muhammad Anwar, who is the provincial convener of the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF), termed the incident terrible.
“I will file the case of the affected girl in the Peshawar High Court (PHC),” he said.
In fact, he had announced soon after the incident that he will fight the girl’s case without taking any fee. He has repeated his offer now in TV interviews.
The senior lawyer said that he would fight the case to provide justice to the victim as he had received the power of attorney from the affected family.
The KP police chief, Salahuddin Mehsud, also took notice of the incident and directed the concerned police officials to take immediate action against those involved in it.
Four out of the eight suspects have confessed to their crime before a local court.
The rest of the four suspects have denied the charges, claiming that the others have confessed due to constant pressure of the police.
