Alhamra signs MoU with Bangkok organisation for cultural collaboration

LAHORE Lahore Arts Council, Alhamra, signed an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Miracle Trust, Bangkok, Thailand, for mutual benefits and targeted the globe by cultural collaborations to support various kinds of exchange programmes, partnerships in arts — music, drama and historical studies.
During the Lahore Arts Council officials' visit to Bangkok, several activities were performed by the delegates for the future collaborations and exchange programmes that includes visit of Thammasat University (TU), National Art & Culture Centre, Pakistan Embassy and some other art-related institutions.
Thammasat Diplomatic Forum & 2nd Pakistan-TU Partnership Day was celebrated. On that occasion, Asim Iftekhar, ambassador of Pakistan to Thailand and Capt (Retd) Atta Muhammad Khan, executive director, Lahore Arts Council, interacted with the faculty and students of TU. Khan shared his experience and ideas to promote cultural values.
Customised giveaways made from paper beads were also distributed among the students and other dignitaries.
Mr Suddan presented a five-minute documentary on Buddha prepared in Pakistan with collaboration of Alhamra during a team visit from Thammasat in recent past. Thammasat is working on a documentary on Buddhism; around 18 countries will be captured for this documentary and Pakistan is among one of them.
This is one of the comprehensive documentaries on Buddha and Buddhism which will be showcased worldwide and will highlight the roots and history of Pakistan. In addition, Alhamra has invited a group of 30 students from Thammasat to explore and study cultural values of Pakistani society.
During the visit, Khan represented Pakistan as a peaceful and culturally rich country. With the mutual spirit, both organisations can build relations. Exchange programmes will establish a permanent bridge between both countries and thousands of natives belonging to both countries will be beneficiary of the partnership.
Pakistan has an amasing and wonderful culture and cultural values. These cultural values establish a peaceful and harmonised society where every citizen has equal rights to live their life according to their own will, wish and religion, said Khan during his conversation at the international forum.
Alhamra believes in “peace through culture” and such kind of steps will defiantly prove more effectiveness in building Pakistan’s positive picture across the globe. The concept of PIC-International Community will be helpful to get better outcomes as mentioned in the Rules of Business of Alhamra and apparently this will bring a social and economical change in society, he added.
The Lahore Arts Council (Alhamra) is always determined to get distinction in the field of performing and visual arts. Alhamra is working under the umbrella of Punjab Information and Culture Department. Since the creation of Pakistan, it has become custodian of exploring and promoting our cultural values and undoubtedly has emerged as a cultural hub at the international level.
This institution always plays a fundamental role in promotion of country’s soft image all over the world. Under the supervision of Atta Muhammad Khan, Lahore Arts Council is excelling in the field of arts and culture for creating awareness of cultural diversity in Pakistan and other countries through performing and visual arts.
Most importantly, Alhamra has been constantly launching new initiatives to get better results at the international level. Recently, a section titled “Positive Image Consortia (PIC)-International Community” has been established. This programme has been officially introduced to project the soft and colorful image of Pakistan all over the world under the governance and support of Punjab government.
For this purpose, a delegation of Lahore Arts Council has recently visited Thailand and is also in contact with other countries like Romania, Hungary, Austria and Poland for future projects for spreading the cultural and traditional aspect of Pakistan.
