BISHAM: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has given tehsil status to Chakisar in district Shangla.
According to the notification of Revenue and Estate Department, the new tehsil consists of 18 villages, nine patwar halqas and four union councils, which include Chadisar, Opal, Sarkool and Bunirwall. The people of these areas have lauded the decision of the government and said that most of their problems could be solved locally.
Nawaz Mehmood, local politician, said that Chief Minister Pervez Khattak by giving tehsil status to Chakisar had solved one of the longstanding problems of the residents of over a dozen villages. He said Chakisar remained a tehsil during the state era, but with the merger of the state, its status was reduced to sub-tehsil.
