NAB seeks record of Chaudhrys’ properties

LAHORE: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has approached Deputy Commissioners and Director General Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to seek complete record about properties/ assets owned by former prime minister and president Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and his cousin and former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.
NAB officials told The News on Friday that letters to respective DCs including Gujranwala, Sheikhupura and Gujrat, etc, and DG LDA have been written and details of all the properties Chaudhrys own has been sought. Besides, they said letters have also been written to all banks to get the complete record of their accounts as well.
Soon after taking over the charge, the incumbent Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal had ordered the Bureau to complete a case of having assets allegedly beyond their known sources of income, pending against former PM and former CM Punjab with it for the last 17 years.
After opening the case, NAB Lahore had sent them a pro forma to get complete details of their assets but they didn’t respond.
Later, the investigators had to summon both the cousin a couple of weeks back to record their statement.
